Technology Overview
The invention is a visual saliency system, which can be used as a frontend co-processor for information triaging, compression and analysis in various computer vision tasks. Saliency is the distinct subjective perceptual quality which makes some objects of the environment stand out from their neighbours and immediately grab the observer’s attention. We use a biologically plausible proto-object based visual saliency model to identify regions of interest for both visualization and efficient analysis. The system is also extended to videos and incorporates motion aspects in the visual saliency model as the real world scenario is dynamic and constantly changing.
