MobilityKit

Case ID:
C13867
Disclosure Date:
11/2/2016
MobilityKit is a mobile app that measures 3 different parameters of gait - balance, speed and endurance by instructing patients on self-administering 3 specific clinically validated tests of gait and balance. It fulfills the promise of personalized medicine by enabling patients to monitor their own gait and balance.

Novelty:
  • The measures in the mobile application track three critical domains of mobility unlike any other application on the market
  • The measures selected have already been validated in multiple large scale clinical trials and are standard of care in neurologic and geriatric practice
  • The mobile application circumvents the need for patients to make repeated visits to providers to monitor their gait parameters and assess response to therapy
  • Periodic mobility self-assessment could serve as an early warning system in cases of shunt malfunction for NPH
