Unmet Need
X-ray computed tomography has found widespread clinical utility; however, increasing concerns about the risks associated with ionizing radiation have driven the search for exposure reduction strategies. This invention explores hardware-based dose reduction methods.

Technology Overview
The invention is a Multiple Aperture Device (MAD), which is a novel x-ray beam modulator that uses binary filtration on a fine scale to spatially modulate an x-ray beam.
