C04312: A Cell Line with Targeted Deletions of both Bax and p21
Technical Details:
A Bax and p21 knock out cell line in human colorectal cancer cells. Details are described in the papers by Zhang et al. (2000) and Yu et al. (2003).
Looking for Partners:
Cells that lack both a functional BAX and p21 gene are relatively resistant to apoptosis. This cell line can be used for testing the specificity of drugs that affect apoptosis. Such drugs can potentially be used as chemotherapeutic or chemopreventive agents.
