Technical Details:

UlnarGuardTM is a non-invasive medical device used for treating pain and disability due to ulnar neuropathy. It is designed to worn under clothing so that patients can undergo treatment day and night. Background Ulnar nerve abnormalities are found in as many as 40% of adult Americans. Often due to excessive flexion (technology usage, sleeping habits) and pressure on the nerve as it crosses the outside of the elbow, ulnar neuropathy results in hand weakness and chronic burning pain. The condition is further marked by numbness, tingling, or pain in the arm and hand on the side of the little finger and the outer side of the palm. In addition to these sensory symptoms, in more advanced cases, weakness and loss of muscle in the hand may also occur. We have developed a novel device that is effective, safe, comfortable & affordable for treating ulnar neuropathy.

This invention provides a novel non invasive method for treating ulnar neuropathy. Current methods of treatment for ulnar neuropathy include anti-inflammatory prescription medicines, rest and splinting of the elbow. For advances cases of neuropathy, surgery is seen as the best solution. Oftentimes soft elbow braces are recommended, however they are not effective at maintaining the preferred extension. This invention can be manufactured to meet patient specifications for daytime and nighttime wear.
