C04652: PIK3CA KO Lines for Drug Discovery
Technical Details:
PIK3CA knockouts in human colorectal cancer cell lines HCT116 and DLD1. Details are described in the paper by Samuels et al., 2005
Looking for Partners:
JHU scientists have recently discovered that mutations in PIK3CA occur in a significant fraction of cancers. Knockout lines indicated that PIK3CA plays a role in tumor cell proliferation as well as invasion and metastasis. The PIK3CA knock out cell line can be used in screens for novel molecules that target the PI3K pathway in human cancer cells or to confirm the specificity of drugs discovered through other approaches. Such drugs can potentially be used as chemotherapeutic or chemopreventative agents.
