Nuclear lamina is a dense fibrillar network inside the nucleus of eukaryotic cells composed of intermediate filaments (lamins) and membrane associated proteins called lamin-associated membrane proteins. The nuclear lamina provides mechanical support, regulates important cellular events such as DNA replication and cell division, participates in chromatin organization, and anchors the nuclear pore complexes embedded in the nuclear envelope. MAN1 is an integral protein of the inner nuclear membrane and a member of the lamin-associated membrane protein family that interacts with nuclear lamins and emerin, thus playing a role in nuclear organization. A JHU scientist has generated Serum 4279, a polyclonal rat antibody against a recombinant polypeptide comprising amino acid residues 650-910 of the C-terminal nucleoplasmic domain of human MAN1.
