C11635: Web-Based Safety Event Reporting System

Novelty:

An online report-generating system that allows access to real-time patient safety net (PNS) data and event reports.

Value Proposition:

Patient safety net (PSN) allows standardized event data collection and sharing to mitigate safety failure. This invention augments current PSN with event tagging and analysis capability, allowing patient safety staff to build and analyze up-to-date bulk events with great specificity. Other advantages include:

• Event tagging by indicator for streamlined search and sharing
• Time and labor efficient
• Report creation by time period, location, department and service
• Compatible with health consortium database
• User-friendly interface
• Safety trends can be monitored
• Can be customized for organizations specific needs
• Real-time patient safety data

Technical Details:

Johns Hopkins researchers have developed an online patient safety management system. This system provides up-to-date and accurate patient safety data in real-time. The system draws data directly from the health consortium database. Since the system is extremely user-friendly it makes report generation and searching very quick and efficient. The system also has built-in analytical software and is able to tag events with specific indicators. Patient safety staff can review and organize events reported for their own institutions and follow-up with front-end staff and managers as necessary.
