TII1 Flox Mouse Line

Case ID:
C13176
Disclosure Date:
7/28/2014
ABSTRACT
This genetically engineered mouse line carries a floxed allele for TII1, which encodes a metalloprotease involved in regulating myostatin and GDF-11 activity. The line may be useful for developing drugs capable of modulating the activities of myostatin and/or GDF-11, for example for enhancing muscle growth and regeneration. TII1 is also involved in regulating collagen formation, so this line may also be useful for drug development to combat fibrosis.

FEATURES
The novel animal model provides new opportunities for in-depth analyses of in vivo roles of BMP1-like proteinases in bone and other tissues, and for their roles, and for possible therapeutic interventions, in Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI).

STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT
The mouse was used for in-depth characterization of in vivo functions of a family of proteinases hypothesized to play key roles in vertebrate development and homeostasis and in extracellular matrix (ECM) formation ad maintenance
