Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is an important public health concern particularly among the elderly. Although measures such as ankle-brachial index and segmental pressures have been used to characterize disease severity, new magnetic resonance based imaging techniques allow us to assess subclinical vascular function and morphology. Here, we describe the design of a comprehensive post-processing toolbox for assessment of peripheral vascular disease from magnetic resonance imaging. While there are commercially available toolboxes that perform one or more of the assessments - none of them involve the comprehensive protocol that our toolbox would cover, and none of them are geared specifically towards diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease.
