Cloud-Based SCADA Systems with Abstract State
Case ID:
C14331
Report of Invention:
8/15/2016
Web Published:

Unmet Need:
Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) manufacturers are considering moving SCADA systems to cloud-like settings to obtain cost, scalability, and fault-tolerance benefits. In such settings, a few large cloud SCADA providers could manage SCADA systems for many individual utility companies. While this can lower utility companies’ costs, simplify their management, and potentially offer new features and services, it raises critical security and confidentiality issues.
Technical Overview:
Our idea is to leverage the benefits of the cloud without revealing sensitive information by providing only an abstract representation of that data to the cloud.
