Refractive Status and Vision Profile (RSVP)
Developed to address limitations of existing ophthalmic questionnaires for individuals with refractive error (including those undergoing or having had refractive surgery), this checklist provides a targeted, patient-centered measure of vision-related quality of life.
Developed from the review of published questionnaires, guided focus groups with eye care professionals and persons with refractive error, and unstructured interviews, the instrument’s structure and administration are designed for clinical and research use, facilitating assessment of symptoms, functional impact, and expectations that may change with correction method or surgical intervention.
Work presented at the ARVO annual meeting (1998) and published by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (2000).

- Items are short declarative statements prefaced with “Because of my vision” and “In the past month.”

- “Not applicable” responses are permitted.
- Items account for type of corrective lenses when addressing satisfaction, ratings of vision, and visual symptoms.
