A Machine Learning Approach to Beamforming
Unmet NeedGiven their ability to aid in real-time navigation of our complex anatomy, ultrasound and photoacoustic images are popular options for image guidance during surgery. However, noise in these images complicate surgical procedures, particularly noise caused by reflection and reverberation artifacts from highly echogenic structures, which often...

Measuring Patient Mobility in the ICU using a Novel Non-Invasive Sensor
Unmet NeedPatient mobilization is a critical variable that can predict future physical impairments and the ultimate length of stay for intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Measuring patient mobilization requires a clinical staff member to monitor a video feed of multiple patients in an ICU ward and make subjective distinctions on their level of mobility....

System for Stereo Reconstruction from Monoscopic Endoscope Images
This system enables reconstruction of 3d images from monoscopic endoscopes with a working channel. The system is inexpensive and could easily be made disposable. Clinical applications in include taking precise, minimally invasive measurements of structures inside the body, such as the airway, sinus, and digestive tract.
